Film Photography 101

&

Studio Shoot around

Saturday, May 18 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

East Fifth Studio, Des Moines, Iowa

You've got your camera and a roll a film, but you're kind of stuck on where to start. Or maybe you're wanting to fast track your learning progress. Film Photography 101 is here to help. I'll go through the basics of film, including talking cameras, film stocks, how shooting film compares to digital, lab services for developing and scanning. Plus I'll answer all your film questions.

But I'm not going to just talk about it, I'm going to help you put it into action immediately with shooting at the studio and around the East Village. If you do not have a film camera to bring along, I will have extras to share.

This class is best suited for film beginners.

Limited to 5 spots!

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

SARA JOHANSEN

Hi, I'm Sara and I've been shooting film for the past 10 years, exclusively film for the last five years! I'm in love with film photography and want to share the love with others, hence this class. I wanted to do an intro course to help others who are wanting to start using film or in the early stages of using film.

I shoot mainly 35mm and 120 and will be focusing on those two formats. There will be lots of talk about film stocks and how they differ and work for different needs. There will be lots of camera talk, including where I buy my cameras and what I look for when choosing cameras.
